Who we're looking for:
As an HR Payroll Administrator at Makersite, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating payroll processes for our international team, ensuring compliance with local regulations and maintaining excellent communication with external payroll providers and the Employer of Record (EOR) team. Your fluency in German and English, combined with your expertise in German payroll laws and data processing, will ensure seamless payroll operations for our employees.
This role is a fixed, permanent position. All successful applicants will need to reside in Germany with legal working permits or residence permits.
The role:
Manage payroll processing for employees in Germany, the UK, and Austria, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Act as the primary contact and point of contact for external payroll processing vendors and the Employer of Record team.
Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll regulations and legal requirements within each country, including German payroll laws.
Process employee data, salary adjustments, and deductions using various payroll systems and tools.
Verify payroll reports, investigate discrepancies, and implement necessary corrections.
Support onboarding and offboarding payroll activities, including final settlements and new employee setup.
Generate payroll reports and documentation for audits and internal review.
Collaborate with HR, finance, legal, and external teams to maintain data integrity and compliance.
Provide guidance and support to employees regarding payroll, benefits, and related inquiries in German and English.
Ensure timely submission of payroll-related reports and payments to governmental authorities.
Assist in implementing process improvements and automation initiatives for payroll.
Maintain payroll records securely, adhering to data protection and confidentiality standards.
Job requirements
Fluent in German and English (written and spoken).
3-4+ years’ experience working with payroll in an international environment, especially within Germany, the UK, and Austria.
Strong knowledge of German payroll regulations, tax laws, and social security contributions.
Proficient in payroll data processing tools and software.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive data with confidentiality and professionalism.
